At the start of the project we was given a task which was to create a Pop-art final design, we had to research other artists and then get ideas from them. Also we had to create a lighting set up for our shots and then, after we had to edit them all.
Firstly I researched Pop art and artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol also how today’s modern artists use Photoshop and other computer aided design programs to create Pop art. Also I learned how pop art is only a few colours so it stands out. After the research I created a lighting set up which consisted of two red head lights one on the left one on the right and a white backdrop with a camera facing forward on a tripod.
After that
We had to create a list of items that we could create in our final design two
of the items that stood out to me the most was the Malteser packet and a sprite drink this is
because they have got a few simple colours on them and making them into a pop
art image would be a successful idea. Furthermore I created a proposal on what I
was going to do, (what I was going to take a picture of) and how I was going to
edit the images. Also what tools I will use.
I then started to take my images with the same setup I created, Some images where on a white backdrop and some was on a blue and some on a black, the ones that stood out the most was the ones on a white background Because there was no shadows and no reflections from the backdrop. After all them images we created a contact sheet and chose one image that stood out the most.
After choosing my final Image I started to edit it in Photoshop CC by first cropping the Packet out and changing the colour on it by using the Hue/Saturation tool, then I created a black and white background and made half of the image dark and half of it bright by using the gradient tool. Then I converted the layer to a smart object and then clicked filter gallery on the filter section which gave me a selection of filters and I chose the halftone pattern this is what gave it the dot effect and I changed the sizes of the dots to my liking then when I finished that I filled the layer to the colour I wanted which made the background look professional and I added the Malteser packet with whatever colour I chose onto the background and that’s how I created one of the packets and I done the same thing for all the others ones by changing the colours on them and the background colours too , I then added all of them onto an a3 paper which was 6 edited images all together. I believe everything went well I completed everything that was on my proposal.
